Ahaha, really?! I remember you hitting me a lot for being too chatty. [Perking up even more because food.] Pancakes are nice! And cereal and bacon and eggs!

You can talk as much as you want now. [If not just to prove to him that you're still here and alive. At Sabo's happiness, he just laughs.] That's a pretty tall order, y'know! But I think I can manage to make that much.

[He lets out a long yawn.] What do you say we try some sleep first, though? Unless you want me to fall asleep while I'm cooking it.

I hope that's true... [Because there's so much he wants to talk about, but still can't find the words to them.But that conversation's for another time. He grins happily.] I can help. I make a pretty good sunny side up, I'll have you know.

Hah, you fall asleep all the time anyway. [But he stretches on his back and closes his eyes.] You better not burn my bacon.

You bet it is. [Just give him a sec, he's gonna go grab that giant tent of a coat his Pops wore and throw it over the two of them. Pops' coat makes everything better.] Heheh, all right, feel free to help.

Oi, Luffy does, too. [Ace gets comfy under the coat and closes his eyes, too.] I won't, geez. Have a little faith.

[Oh, hey, you're right. It's comfy under this coat. Don't mind him burrowing contentedly into it.] Mmn, you an' Luffy both... sheesh...

[And for all his determination to wait 'til Ace falls asleep first, he's down before he knows it. Can't be helped if you're just a ten year old kid, after all.

And soon enough he's dreaming of a kitchen covered in flour and broken egg shells and Ace and Luffy and him laughing while Marco scolds them in a hot pink apron. He can't see what's written on it, but he's pretty sure it's hilarious.]

[Don't worry, bro, Ace fell asleep not long after you did. Though he didn't have any hilarious dreams such as that one, he at least slept well. He wakes up somewhere between 8 and 9, and when he sees Sabo still asleep, he carefully moves himself out from under the coat, and goes off to make breakfast. Ace cooks the pancakes and bacon first, and he'll wait til Sabo wakes up to ask him how he wants them cooked.]

[Sabo wakes up soon enough and sits up with wide eyes. And then he's bounding towards the door with a bright grin. The smell of cooking bacon's too delicious to laze through, after all. But he skids to a stop on the doorway and doubles back to his bed. He takes his time folding the coat neatly, knowing how precious it is to his brothers.

And for the same reason, he gives a quick but respectful bow to it.] Thanks for keeping us warm. [And then he's running off again. Breakfast is waiting.]

[Sabo, you are the best damn brother ever. And if Ace ever finds out about that, you are getting the biggest hug ever. When Sabo comes out, he'll find some pancakes already on a plate, and still warm! Same for some bacon. The cereal's on the counter, with milk and some fruit if he so desires.] Morning, Sabo! Sleep okay?

[You won't, but there's a clue: the rest of the bed's still very much a mess, and only your Pop's coat is folded neatly, with creases carefully smoothed out. Anyways!

He'll just stare with open wonder at the glorious sight of a full breakfast before beaming up at you.] Morning! Yeah, I did but waking up's so much better when you're greeted with a sight like this! [Then he frowns slightly.] Sorry I didn't get to help out.

[You are definitely getting thanks for that later on. He smiles down at his brother, and snaps his fingers.] Actually, you can! How do you want your eggs? Scrambled, sunny side up, or an omelette?

Sunny side up! [And his face is indeed lighting up like a tiny chip-toothed sun.] Let me do it, Ace. You've done enough already!

Sure. [He'll just get out of your way, hand you the eggs, and let you cook~.] Want milk, juice, or water?

[sailedfirst]

Juice, please! [And he'll cook like a pro (not really, but close enough for a kid who's more used to simply roasting stuff on a stick in an open fire) and deliver some neatly shaped sunny side up a minute later. It's not just fighting he's working at, you know.] How'd you like yours?

You got it. [He'll pull out the orange juice for the two of them. And hey, that was pretty good, Sabo. Ace is impressed!] I'll have 'em scrambled.

[And he's joining you on the table the next minute or two with a huge serving of scrambled eggs.] I hope Marco won't think badly of us for having this many eggs. [Because, you know, eggs are baby chickens.]

[Don't forget all the other food you've got, Sabo. And Ace just shakes his head.] So long as we don't eat them in front of him, or make him eat them.

Oh, okay. Still, we better keep this a secret. Don't wanna make 'im feel bad for 'em. [How could he forget? He's already chomping down on everything he can get his hands on. And he's very happy to do so.] OOHHH! This pancake's good stuff, Ace!

... yeah, that would probably be a good idea. [That compliment brightens Ace's face by a million watts] You really like 'em?!

Tchure toh! [Just look at the way he's carefully chewing through chipmunk cheeks just so he wouldn't spill a single crumb. And then he's swallowing, drinking his juice and laughing in delight.] They're the best pancakes I've ever had!

[hiken_ace]

[He grins happily at him, obviously pleased that Sabo's satisfied with breakfast. He devours his own breakfast quickly, too.] I'm really glad you like 'em!

[And he's moving from the pancakes, to the bacon and eggs, to the cereal and the fruits in them, and finishing by draining his glass of juice to its last drop. With that done, he leans back on his chair with a very satisfied sigh.] Ahhh~ that was really good...

[It's like being back at Dadan's place, except they're not as messy. Guess it helps that it's just the two of them eating. Before long, all of the food is gone, and Ace pats his belly.] See? Told you I can cook.

[It also helps they have to clean after themselves now. Which is a lot easier without dealing with broken plates and scattered food at every meal.

Sabo laughs --interrupted by a loud burp-- and gives Ace a thumbs up.] And you're pretty great at it. I'm impressed!

[hiken_ace]

[Yeah. And about half as many plates.

He grins back at him with a thumbs up.] Well, I'm glad you like it. Because you're gonna have to help with dishes, too.

Sounds like a fair deal. [And you know what, he's gonna start those now. But not before approaching you first and giving you a quick hug because he knows now how much you like them.] Thanks for the meal, Ace!
