[Yeah, let's try not to think about that. He starts with some pans, scrubbing them well and then rinsing them off. After they're clean, he'll hand them to Sabo.]

[Wipe, wipe, wipe and tah-dah dry pans! But he has to stand on a chair to reach the pan hanging rack; tsk, being tiny sucks. And because he can be a chatterbox when he feels like it, he starts to fill the quiet.]

Oh hey, you know. I met a girl from our world and she's a pirate too. We traded stories one night and we kinda became friends somewhat after that. Seemed like she misses the sea real badly, so I took her to go sailing in your-- er. [Oops. Should've started with that first.] a-ahaha, you don't mind me borrowing your skiff, do you?

[Aaaand moving on to the plates! And yay, chatterbox Sabo.]

Really? Who was it? [And a girl? That kinda narrows it down. But teasing bro time!] A girl, huh?

[Looking over with a confused frown.] Her name's Perona. And yeah, she's a girl. [Yep, bro might be too young to get it. At first.]

[ALMOST DROPPING THE PLATE BECAUSE HOLY FUCK, PERONA!?!?] W-Wait, you mean the ghost girl?

[UGH, WHY DID SHE HAVE TO GO OUT ON HIS SKIFF.] She's ah... she's all right, I suppose. Got some kind of a grudge against Luffy's crew, so I'm a little wary of her.

[And it's his turn to gape. But no almost dropping of plates, luckily since he hasn't got one yet. ] W-what? What do you mean, grudge against...?

[Are you telling him one of the few friends he got here is an enemy? ;;]

Ahhh... well, she was on the crew of Gecko Moria, a shichibukai. And he basically kicked his ass, and she lost a lot of stuff. And she blames Luffy for it, I guess.

[He remembers Perona telling him about her home and her servants, and how alone she is without them. But then again, he knows Luffy; he won't fight with anyone without a good enough reason. S-so that means... did Perona really hurt Luffy's nakama? Is that why she's so worried borrowing Ace's skiff, because she's feeling guilty?]

...she was so nice to me. [It's a quiet mumble. He still can't wrap his mind around this.]

[... a-awww, bro, he didn't mean to make you sad. Have a head pat.] Hey, maybe she'll move on from it.

I hope so... I mean, if she's that angry, she could've tried to attack me or something. I didn't exactly leave it a secret that I'm brothers with you and Luffy, y'know. [Sighs and continues drying the plates.] Still, gotta talk to her about it sometime.

[You know better than anyone that he doesn't give up easily on those he considers friends just because they've been jerks, right?]

Did she sound surprised or anything? And maybe she doesn't mind you so much since you're so much more bearable. [And he'll just keep washing.]

Or maybe it's 'cause I got nothing to do with what happened. [Carefully setting plates in a pile.] That makes her a lot decent person than many people I know. [Namely those in High Town.]

--yeah, that makes sense. She's not the best person, she's actually kinda whiny, but it's kinda easy to get on her good side. She's a little scared of me, though.

[Okay, all the dishes are washed, now to put them away.]

[Storing dried plates in cupboards.] Well, it doesn't matter if she isn't the best person. I offered to be her friend, so even if she did do evil stuff in the past, that's different now. After all! I've known a guy who's been a total jerk to me at first, and he still ends up to be one of the most important people in my life.

[hiken_ace]

[He'll reach the high shelves to put them away. But dlkgndf gosh, that made Ace happy.] Probably because someone was so damn pushy to become an important person in his life.

[His smile and tone show that he's happy, though.]

[Snorts.] If the guy hadn't got a knack for landing himself in trouble all the damn time, I wouldn't have had to be! [He doesn't sound like he minds this at all, though.]

Well, if the other guy wasn't so damn nosy, he wouldn't have had to be pushy! [Yep, they are enjoying talking about how they met.]

...I'm starting to wonder which guy's the nosy one and the pushy one. [Laughs.] They could be both, if you think about it!

[hiken_ace]

You were definitely nosy and pushy. [He'll laugh with him.] Then again, I was pretty nosy about your past.

Hey, you're pushy too! How'd you think you managed to make me spill my past, huh?! Ah... but I guess you weren't as nosy as you could've been. You stopped asking for a long time and only started again that time when Dad saw me...

[hiken_ace]

You lied about your past the first time, remember? I only gave up because it sounded fishy. [He almost wants to blurt out "don't call that bastard your dad", but he restrains himself. After a moment or two of silence, he finally talks.]

Hey... you know... you can call Whitebeard "Pops", too. If you want.

[sailedfirst]

[They had this argument before, but this is probably a good time for total honesty.] ...Well, I got no choice but to lie back then. You'd have wanted nothing to do with me if I told the truth. [That, or sold him out because life in Gray Terminal works like that. Nobody likes dealing with nobles there, unless there's cash to be had.

And then, Sabo's eyes widens. That's no small honor Ace is offering him, and he's very much aware of it.] W-what... I can't do that! I'm not part of Whitebeard's crew. [Not part of his family.]

[hiken_ace]

Hey, heeeey, I never said that was a bad thing. I'm really glad you lied. How else would we have become friends? Though, I can't deny you're right about that. [He won't even try to, Sabo hit the nail on the head.

At Sabo's surprise, he just smiles kindly at him.] You're family, Sabo. Marco thinks it, too. That's more than enough reason. He wouldn't mind having another son at all.

I've always felt bad for lying, but I'm not regretting it either. [Grins.] One of the best decisions I've ever made. [Otherwise, he probably would be in High Town even now, caged and doing nothing but fulfilling his 'duty' to his parents.

Shaking his head.] You and Marco are different. You guys, and Luffy too, you all chose me to be your brother, to be your family. That's why I can't be Whitebeard's son without him choosing me, too. [And he still might have some apprehension being anyone's son because he's been called a useless one far too many times.]

[hiken_ace]

No one can say you did any wrong. And if they do, we'll just punch 'em in the face.

[Right about now, he would really like Whitebeard to walk through the door and declare Sabo his son. But that's been wishful thinking ever since he can remember.] We didn't choose you to be our brother. We all agreed on it. After meeting him just once, Pops asked me to be his son. Pops is different. Anyone who asks to be his son can be. He'd love to have you, Sabo.
